1. What can your quit meter do for me?
Quit Keeper is a quit meter that can track a variety of statistics associated with your quit. It can track your quit time, the number of cigarettes you haven't smoked, the money you have saved and the life that you have saved. Many quit meters track these stats but Quit Keeper goes further - it can also track your anniversaries i.e. 1 week, 2 month, 200 days and also the anniversaries of your friends/buddies.
One unique feature of Quit Keeper is it's ability to track the changes in price of cigarettes - so if the price of cigarettes goes up, you can enter that new price into Quit Keeper and it will update it's money saved statistic.
2. How much does Quit Keeper cost?
Quit Keeper is absolutely free! You don't have to pay anything - use it as much as you like and for as long as you like.
3. How do I install Quitkeeper?
Download setup.exe to your hard disk. Run setup.exe and the install program should guide you through the steps.
4. I installed Quit Keeper and it worked fine - now it won't run?
When you minimize Quit Keeper it will appear as a small icon in the system tray (bottom right hand corner of your screen). If you have done this (or set the option in Edit, Preferences for Quit Keeper to run minimized at startup) then clicking on the application icon will have no effect. Just double click on the icon in the system tray to restore Quit Keeper
5. It still doesn't run - what do I do?
Make a note of any error messages and email them to me. When you do email make sure you include the Operating System you are using i.e. Win98,WinME, Win2000, WinXP.
6. I entered my details incorrectly - how do I change them?
You can change your quitting details at any time - just go to the Edit Menu and choose Edit Quit Details.
7. I haven't quit yet - can Quit Keeper do a countdown to my quit?
Yes but with reduced functionality. Quit Keeper will accept a quit date that is in the future and will change to give you a countdown to your quit. Until you quit the other statistics i.e. Money Saved, Life Saved will be blank.
8. I entered a buddies name incorrectly - how do I change that?
To edit any of the buddy information - just double click on the cell that you wish to edit, this will then bring up a editing dialog for that buddy.
9. Can I sort the buddy list?
Yes, the buddy list can be sorted by clicking on the column headings, you can sort by name, quit date or anniversary.
10. How do I change the format Quit Keeper uses for my stats?
Edit, Preferences - then click on the Statistics format tab at the top.
11. How do I get back to the original statistics format?
If you have changed the statistics format and now want to return to the standard format Quit Keeper ships with, open the Statistics Format dialog, use the delete key to remove the current format (top editing box) and then try to save the blank format. A warning will pop up telling you that it can't be left blank and asking if you would like to use the default format. Clicking Yes will return you to the default format.
12. How do I change the hotkey?
Go to Edit, Preferences - click into the hotkey edit box and then press the hotkey combination you want to use.
13. Why doesn't my life saved statistic match other Quit meters/Websites?
The life saved statistic on any website or quit meter is based on some speculation. Usually it is calculated by a set amount of time per cigarette. Many meters use a value of 5 mins per cigarette whilst some others use 10 or 15 mins per cig. Quit Keeper uses 5 mins by default, but you can change this value in Edit, Preferences.
14. What is planned for future versions of Quit Keeper?
New features will depend purely on user feedback and my own curiosity. If you want something added - write to me!
